Improved Governance between Universities in the Netherlands
Client Challenge
Two Universities of Applied Science faced significant challenges in optimizing the governance of their joint supporting services. The “College van Bestuur’ (board of governors) sought to identify current collaboration forms, pinpoint bottlenecks and success factors, and develop strategies to enhance cooperation among various support functions and faculties.
Response
To address these challenges, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the existing governance structures and collaboration methods among the supporting functions and faculties. Our approach involved mapping out how supporting functions currently collaborate both internally and with the faculties, investigating the factors that either facilitate or hinder effective governance, and formulating recommendations to optimize governance based on best practices and theoretical models.
Outcomes
Our investigation provided tangible recommendations on improving governance, including a clear understanding of the current situation and a shared view on mid- and long-term topics such as governance, Service Delivery Model, Service Management, and Technology. We delivered actionable insights to enhance governance structures and streamline service delivery, ensuring a cohesive and effective governance framework for the future.
